“The thief comes to kill and destroy, but I have come that you might have life to the fullest.”
– Jesus (John 10:10)

Proclaiming

preach.the_.word_At Lakewood, we understand that our Praise of God, Equipping of Members, and Serving Others leads us to a point in which we can Proclaim the hope we have found in Christ. Matthew 28:18-20 is known as the “Great Commission.” In this passage Jesus directs his followers to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit–teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you.” Just as the original followers of Christ were told to make disciples, we do the same. Making disciples involves many things, one of those things is proclaiming the hope we have in Jesus Christ. In Mark 16:15-16 Jesus teaches “Go into all the world and preach the good news. Whoever believes AND is baptized will be saved.” Acts 2:38 teaches that we ought to “Repent and be baptized (immersed in water) in order that we might receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of God’s Spirit.” While it is the faith connected with obeying Christ (water baptism and repentance) that initiates salvation, we cling to the hope of a resurrection just as Christ was raised. It is this hope that we proclaim to the world!
